Shine & Formation Checked
Not all Pyrite holds its shine the same way. We check every batch for a bright, even metallic lustre and stable cube formations, free of rust spots or flaking so what you see in your sample is what you get at scale.
Pyrite is popular because of its bold, gold-metallic shine and its sharp, natural cube formations. Customers expect Pyrite to look bright and gold, not dull, grey, or flaking. If a piece shows rust-coloured spots or a crumbly surface, it will not sell well, because Pyrite can slowly oxidise when exposed to moisture over time, and customers expect a stone that stays bright on their shelf. Most Pyrite sold in the trade is untreated, though some pieces are lightly sealed with a clear coating to help protect the shine and slow down oxidation; this is a normal and accepted practice, especially for pieces meant for long-term display. AAA grade Pyrite has a bright, even metallic shine with sharp, well-formed cube edges. AA grade has a good solid shine suitable for most retail products. A grade may show some duller patches or less defined edges and is best for budget kits and raw collections where perfect shine is less important. We check the shine and formation of every Pyrite batch before we send it out, so what you see on your shelf matches what you ordered.

Pyrite is an iron sulphide mineral known for its bright, metallic gold-coloured shine, which historically led prospectors to mistake it for real gold earning it the nickname Fool's Gold. It is also known for forming naturally into sharp, geometric cube shapes, which makes it a distinctive stone in the crystal trade.
Pyrite can slowly oxidise and develop rust-coloured spots if it is regularly exposed to moisture or humidity. Keeping it dry and away from damp conditions helps preserve its shine. Some pieces are lightly sealed with a clear coating to help slow this process, especially those meant for long-term display.
